raised and educated in eastern Colorado, Donna Pennington turned her love of the eastern plains into a labor of love while literally "transforming" an old, tired Railroad hotel, built in 1918, into a place of comfortable hospitality.

purchasing the Plains Hotel in 2001, Donna has utilized not only her creative talents but also her many years of collectables, antiques, and "personal treasures" to design, furnish and decorate this 85 year old structure.

most observers saw an abandoned building with 26 sleeping rooms of four walls and a sink that had been closed for nearly three years, Donna had other visions. She had visions of warmth, comfort, unique charm, and the kind of attractiveness you can't experience just once. And with peerless energy and determination, she set about to create and bring to reality those "visions", turning 26 cold "sleeping rooms" into a small, exclusive palace on the plains.

creative side is equal to her hospitality, friendly and sincere desire to make her guests comfortable. The style, grace and peacefulness of the Plains Hotel are merely reflections of her. One visit to the Plains Hotel and you realize there is no such thing as a stranger to Donna.
